Peace out!

I recently ordered this bobbing gnome for our front door. I love that he's jolly and advocates peace. The ebay seller was very accomodating when I informed her that the gnome came damaged. You don't see it in the picture, but there is a large chip missing from behind the nodding head. In any case, the seller was most accomodating and I am expecting a replacement (along with a couple of other gnomes) in the mail next week. Can't beat great customer service; especially when it's regarding an online purchase.

My central FL garden has not been taking the cold spells easily. I planted some snapdragons and wax begonias in hopes that it would handle the below 30 temps well. Though they survived, I can tell they're not happy. Maybe it's the soil rather than the temperature that is making them lag. I added plenty of compost to amend the clay/sandy soil. Next step is to aerate around the plants to see if they just need a little more leg room.

However, my container plants seem to be thriving. I've transplanted our bougainvilleas twice now and though they don't seem too thrilled about transplantation, they're still blooming. That's all I ask for.

$12 find at garage sales make me happy

About six months ago, I came across this garage sale (more like junk sale) find. The glass is broken in a few places on top and even though I never thought to own a terrarium, I wanted it. After storing it outside for a few weeks without any idea of what to do with it, I finally decided to bring it in and add some plants. It makes a charming addition to my indoor garden. All it needs is a group of gnomes to complete the look.

As if!

Purchased from Morning Glory Antique Mall, Leesburg, FL
(It was love at first sight)
One would think that with life being as busy and frenetic as it is, I would have forgone blogging. However, after much searching for a sense of gnome-comradery (and I'm not talking about enjoying a laugh from YouTube's Argentinian Scary Gnome), I decided to create this blog. So come one, come all you gnome lovers. Join me in my quest to honor and share all that gnomes have to offer. Gardeners (both serious and non-committal) are also welcome. Afterall, who has gnomes without gardens? That would just be weird.
